Gluteoplasty
Gluteoplasty
Gluteoplasty, or buttock augmentation, enables change the shape and size of the buttocks enhancing both body harmony and self-confidence. This procedure became fashionable thanks to the creation of next-generation gluteal implants, anatomical and stable, for excellent results.
Preparing for gluteoplasty
During the preoperative evaluation, the surgeon analyses the shape and size of the buttocks describing the type of prosthesis to use or the areas where excess fat can be extracted and transplanted to the buttocks. The pre-surgical assessment is a very important factor to exclude possible complications (high blood pressure, bleeding or scarring problems) that could undermine the surgical outcome. At the end of the evaluation, the surgeon will choose the most suitable techniques of contouring; it is important to follow any advice about diet, use of medications, cigarettes and alcohol.
Gluteoplasty procedure
Gluteoplasty is performed under locoregional anaesthesia with sedation in day surgery or general anaesthesia with an overnight hospital stay. A durable increase of the gluteal regions is achieved by the placement of silicone implants (similar to breast implants) under the gluteus muscle or fat transplantation (lipofilling). Implants used in gluteoplasty are made of a silicone outer shell and an inner content formed from silicone gel. An incision is made in the intergluteal fold to emplace the prosthesis within each gluteus maximus muscle. This positioning reduces many annoying postoperative problems previously derived from a deeper implantation of the prostheses. Surgery is completed with a liposculpture or lipofilling, that is, transplanting fat from other parts of the body to reshape harmoniously the contour of the buttocks. This procedure lasts on average 40 minutes and requires a medical compression garment. Depending on the shape the surgeon wants to achieve, the choice is between oval prostheses (anatomical) or elongated implants that could be replaced intentionally or inevitably because of the occurrence of complications even after a few or many years following the first operation.
Postoperative care instructions
Hospital discharge takes place the day after surgery and patients can sit immediately. It is advisable to rest during the first 48 hours and, by the third day, you can restart your normal daily activities avoiding strenuous ones. If not overly tiring, most patients can return to work about 7-10 days after gluteoplasty and, within four weeks, all normal activities can be resumed, including sports. The result is usually very good and long lasting even if not completely permanent as subject to natural ageing and gravity.
Scars in gluteoplasty
An incision is made in the intergluteal fold to remain concealed within natural contours.
FAQ
Who undergoes gluteoplasty?
Gluteoplasty helps solve flat butt problems that affect women’s outfit especially during the summer period. However, patients suffering from buttock laxity will not solve their problem through this surgery, but thanks to other cosmetic surgery.
Is there any age limit to undergo this type of plastic surgery?
There is no age limit to undergo gluteoplasty; it is preferable, however, to wait until adulthood, when the body has reached its full maturation.
Is it possible to combine gluteoplasty with other cosmetic procedures?
Gluteoplasty can be performed alone or in combination with other procedures such as liposuction, abdominoplasty or other cosmetic surgery.
Are there risks and / or complications for this type of plastic surgery?
The surgical procedure is relatively simple, and, if carried out by qualified surgeons who perform plastic surgery procedures in accredited facilities, usually gives excellent results with very low rates of complication. It is advisable to follow the surgeon’s instructions about diet, use of medications, cigarettes and alcohol.
